Specstride CLI

Available Released as v0.1.0. Runs on Linux with Python 3.13 and Bash.

The gated loop as it ships today. Bash and Python, standard library only. Drives Claude, Codex or dsh through a Spec Kit feature, phase by phase, behind the critic gate.

The CLI is a single front door: specstride run starts a loop, and status, watch, events, verdicts, stop and resume inspect or steer it. Everything a run produces lives under .specstride/ in your project, so a run can be read, resumed or audited from the files alone.

Commands

specstride run
Carry a Spec Kit feature through the gated loop.
specstride reverse
Turn an existing codebase into an as-is Spec Kit feature.
specstride learn
Suggest, apply and evaluate per-phase settings from run telemetry.

Install

git clone

Available

Clone the CLI and run the bundled three-phase Spec Kit example end to end. Claude writes the code; a critic signs off each phase.

Needs

  • Linux, Bash, git and Python 3.13 (the CLI uses the standard library only)
  • The Claude Code CLI, logged in, for the proposer
  • ANTHROPIC_API_KEY in the environment for the claude critic, which calls the API directly (or set SPECSTRIDE_CRITIC to codex with OPENAI_API_KEY, or to dsh)
git clone
git clone https://github.com/mairp/specstride && cd specstride
mkdir -p /tmp/demo/specs/001-greeting && cp examples/speckit-tasks.example.md /tmp/demo/specs/001-greeting/tasks.md
SPECSTRIDE_PROPOSER=claude SPECSTRIDE_CRITIC=claude ./specstride run -w /tmp/demo --verification off

Follow it from a second terminal with ./specstride watch -w /tmp/demo. --verification off skips the test-plan gate, which wants a test command the empty demo directory doesn't have yet; leave it on in a real project.
